It is important to have copies in case of loss all documents. If it happens it will very difficult to stay in foreign country and with coming back to home. It would be great to have other document such as copies of driver's licenses, tickets, hotel reservations, insurance, but also to save to a virtual disk. It will be easier to access them for you.

4. What actions should I take in case of losing passport?
If such thing will happen you need to call to a local police. There you will receive certificate that allows you go to the embassy or consulate of your country. They will interview you, take photos with an "internal" passport, driver's license or any other document with your photo and issue a temporary certificate, according to which you can return home. Copies can be accepted too.
5. Are there any exchanging points?
There are a lot of small offices of money exchanges, banks, hotels and airport in Turkmenistan. But you need to keep in mind that banks are open until 5. You can exchange money at offices in hotels and airports that work 24 hours a day.
Currency that easy to exchange is US dollars of a new sample. But there is note that you have to follow to not lose money when exchanging - banknote should be without defects. Also avoid to moneychangers in bazaars or in the streets, since there is a risk that you will be deceived or arrested by the police for illegal currency transactions. Bank card can be used only in large hotels or trade centers in the capital.

You can use MasterCard and Visa to pay in restaurants, shops and hotels but not everywhere. To remote places it is better to have money on hands. You can find ATM in big cities but not in the villages.

8. How long is the way from the airport to the city and vice versa?
To drive from International Airport of Ashgabat to city takes 10-15 minutes in case if there is no traffic jam. But if you are going to the airport you should leave 30 minutes earlier.
9. What banknote is better to take?
It is up to you. But there are high changes that they won't exchange banknotes with lower denominations.
10. If one of the tourists can't come, is it possible to replace him?
The migration state issues an invitation and you must notify us 15-16 days before arrival and pay extra 100$.

Homestay is used for living in remote areas. The condition is worse than in hotels and guest houses, but cheaper. Tourists usually live in homestay for couple of days, but in cities they live in hotels.

This is the best option for those who want to live alone. Usually it tours double/twin rooms are taken.

ROH (run of the house) - accommodation in a room of any category at the discretion of the hotel.
SGL (single) - single accommodation.
DBL (double) - double accommodation; by default, a room can have either one double bed or two separate single (sometimes half) beds (twin).
TRPL (triple) - triple accommodation; a room can be both one double bed and one single bed, or three separate single beds (rarely).
QDPL (quadruple) - quad accommodation.
Ex. Bed (extra bed) - extra bed: folding bed or, more rarely, stationary.
CHD (child) - a child (usually up to 12 years old).
RO (room only) - accommodation without meals.
RR (room rate) - only accommodation without meals.
BB (Bed and Breakfast) - only breakfast is included.

Some villages even make national decoration like coats made of wolves, horse saddle decorations, carpets and camels and try camel milk which is called chal.

You can buy it in Russian bazaar that is situated in Ashgabat or in the Western Gundogar bazaar with the amusing name - Tolkuchka. But Tolkuchka is open only on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
25. Are there any rules for visiting bazaars?
Bazaar is the very colorful and entertaining place with the atmosphere of Eastern culture. Generally it is safe place but you also need to take into account possibility of losing documents or wallet due to a pickpocket. But there is no big difference than in any European country. But bazaars are the best places for taking colorful photographs, but before taking photo of people it is better to ask permission to shoot them.

It is possible but there are some procedures that are required to do. You must have veterinarian health certificate with the seal of the local Board of Health. The document must be handed over maximum ten days before arrival. Rabies vaccination should be done 12 months and 30 days before arrival to the country.

You can, but keep in mind airline regulations.

You can drink it without fear but if you have any suspicions, you can boil it or buy bottled water.

36. What should I avoid to do in Turkmenistan?
It is not allowed to bring pornographic materials, drugs, weapons, ammunition and printed matter that may bear any danger to Turkmenistan's constitutional system. Also it is prohibited to bring the local currency to the country as well as take it out. You can have currencies of other countries, but when leaving the country the amount on hand should be smaller. Upon arrival you need to fill a customs declaration and save it till the time of your departure. If you bought something in Turkmenistan you should take the certificate confirming that the item doesn't have historical value. Buying a souvenir in large stores, you will safe your time and nerves, as they issue such certificates. To not get into a trouble it is better not to take jewelry without any distinctive signs, precious and semiprecious stones and semi-finished goods made of them; apitoxin (bee venom), snake venom, amberate and propolis; any kind of meat and food from it; plants and animals listed in the Red Book of Turkmenistan; carpets that don't have certificates from the Turkmen Khaly State Union. Also, save all receipts after paying for your purchases.
