Day 1: Bishkek - Toktogul, 350 km, 100% asphalt.
Our manager will pick you up at airport. You will get the car and in the morning you start drive to Toktogul town. It is located near the biggest reservoir in Kyrgyzstan of the same name. The road passes through the southern part of Kyrgyzstan. During your transfer be prepared for amazing views of the impressive mountains and gorges. Today you will see amazing panorama views form Tue Ashuu pass that is more than 3 000 meter high. This road is considered to be one of the most beautiful in Kyrgyzstan. You will have many photo stops to remember this day. Your dinner and night will be in a guesthouse.
Day 2: Toktogul - Osh, 350 km, 100% asphalt.
In the morning we will drive to Osh city. The journey takes about six hours and again you will drive along a mountain road. On the way we will visit Djalal Abad town and its famous Uzgen Tower. This tower was built in 11th century by Karakhanids. There are also mausoleums that were used as burial chambers for the leaders. The whole road will surprise you with its celestial mountains and excellent panoramic views. We will make many photo stops to remember this tour for a long time. You will really enjoy it! This night you will spend in a hotel.
Day 3: Osh - Batken - Khujand, 370 km, 100% asphalt.
In the morning is transfer to Tajik border trough Batken town. Today we will drive to Khujand city. On the way we will visit Istaravshan and its mosque. Khujand is the second largest city of Tajikistan. It is situated on the Syr Darya River at the mouth of the Fergana Valley. The population of the city is 149,000. It is also the capital of the northernmost province of Tajikistan, now called Sughd. You will visit in the afternoon a Cultural Palace of Khujant. At this place the first president of Tajikistan was chosen. Also we will go to see Central Mosque that is situated in the middle of the city. Night is in a hotel.
Day 4: Khujand - Iskanderkul Lake, 240 km, 100% asphalt.
Our trip today is to high Mountain lake - Iskanderkul (2 255 m. a. s. l.). It is situated in the famous Fann Mountains. This fabulous area is one of the best places of Central Asia. After arrival to the lake you will go for a walk along it beaches. Also we will hike 40 minutes to see a waterfall. Tajikistan takes the second place among the CIS countries for volume of water resources: it has the highest water reserves of all Central Asian countries with more than 1 000 rivers, 2 000 lakes and 8000 glaciers. Dinner will be at 7 p.m. Night is in a guesthouse.
Day 5: Iskanderkul - Dushnabe, 140 km, 100% asphalt.
In the morning is drive to Dushanbe via Anzob pass (3 372 m) and tunnel of Isticlol. The road will go over a mountain passes and you will have many photo stops. The second half of the day is dedicated to a guided city tour. First of we will visit Rudake Park, National library, White House, National state seal, House of parliament and Jomi theatre. After it we will walk in National park to make photos of Ministry of Inner Affairs and the biggest National Flag in the world - 165 m high pole, 30 m wide, 60 m long. After excursion in Central Museum you will have lunch. Then you will visit to Gurminj Museum of traditional musical instruments. Dinner will be in a traditional restaurant where you try Tajik food. Night is in a hotel.
Day 6: Dushanbe - Norak - Kalai Khum, 370 km, 40 % asphalt, 60% dirt road.
Today we will drive to Kalai Khum village. You will see Norak water reservoir that is called Tajik Sea. The highest point of the day is Shuraba pass (2 267 m) and after drive along Afghanistan border starts. This part will amaze you by its unique mountains - it is already Territory of Pamir Mountains. Over the centuries, the Pamirs have inspired the world's greatest explorers - Marco Polo, Hsuan Tsang, Mirza Muhammad Haidar. And now you also have a chance to travel here. You will drive along natural border - Pyanj River. Having visited the Pamirs, many travellers called this giant mountain system the ocean of white and blue mountains. This night you will spend in a home stay to see the way of local people's life.
Day 7: Kalai Khum - Khorog, 240 km, 30 % asphalt, 70% dirt road.
In the morning we will drive to Khrorog. It is perhaps one of the tiniest cities on the map of the world. It is surrounded by rocky mountains from all four sides. The town was built on the confluence of the 3 rivers where Shokhdara river and Ghund river flow into Pyanj river. On the way to Khorog you will meet Pamir people. A number of anthropological features set the Pamir people apart from the Tajik people. Among the Pamiris, there is a high percentage of people with blonde hair, fair skin and blue eyes. Pamirs Mountains are the highest mountains in the world with human population after the Himalayas in Tibet. Life in the mountains made traditions of local people different from Tajik people. Dinner is in a restaurant. Night is in a guesthouse.
Day 8: Khorog - Yamg, 220 km, 30 % asphalt, 70% dirt road.
Today we will drive along Tajik-Afgan border to Yamg village. Situated in in the heart of Asia, the Pamirs are a corner of sky-scraping, snow-capped, majestic mountains, transparent clear blue waters of lakes and rivers, wide valleys and bone-dry deserts. For hundreds of years, people have called these highest mountains of the world as "the Roof of the World". Today you will understand why. The land of Pamirs is located at elevations from 3 500 to 4 200 meters above sea level. Pamirs is perhaps one the few areas in Central Asia where ancient ethnic and cultural peculiarities of the Pamir people exist. Over the years, communities were isolated from each other by impassable mountain ranges, and developed into separate enclaves with different dialects and sometimes distinct or different languages. Dinner and night is in a home stay.
Day 9: Yamg - Yashil Kul Lake - Bulunkul Lake, 190 km, 20 % asphalt, 80% dirt road.
The most beautiful lakes of the Pamirs are Yashil Kul and Bulunkul (Blue lakes), stretched on the altitude of 3 700 meters above sea level, are situated in the Murghab district. Today we will spend a night near them. The color of water in Bulunkul is a subtle inter-play of violet and dark-blue in the sunlight. Species of fish like are found in abundance in the lake. There is the opportunity to see yaks, a unique species of domestic animals, sharing features of cow and sheep, traditionally used as a beast of burden apart from giving milk and meat products. On the way to the lake you will drive over Khargush pass (4 344 m). Dinner and night is in a home stay.
Day 10: Bulunkul - Murgab, 220 km, 10 % asphalt, 90% dirt road.
They say in the Pamir: "to arrive here and do not see Murgab is like not visiting the Pamirs at all". After all, by the Roof of the World, we mean Murgab. In the morning we will drive to this town. On the way you will drive over Naizatash pass (4 137 m). At the flat landscape of desolate Murgab there are dozens of peaks with absolute altitude over 6 000 meters above sea level. Often the landscape of Murghab is compared to the surface of the Moon by visitors, viewing the scene with outsiders' eyes. Indeed, this comparison speaks to the unrepeatable experience of being in Murghab and the uniqueness of the place. The desolate and high-altitude climate of Murghab is almost Arctic. Dry air, short and cool summers and almost snowless, severe, freezing winters characterize the weather. Dinner and night is in a guesthouse.
Day 11: Murgab - Sary Tash, 245 km, 20 % asphalt, 80% dirt road.
Right on the highway of the Pamir Tract is situated the light-blue lake of Karakul (3, 815 m), the name of which can be translated as "The Black Lake". On the way to the lake you will drive over the highest Ak Baital pass (4 655 m). Karakul is the highest large mountain lake of the world, excluding those in Tibet and Titicaca. Flooding, melting permafrost and buried ice sheets shape the landscape with small hillocks and a large variety of small creeks and water courses between 3 500 and 4 000 m. The rich plant cover is grazed by wild and domestic ungulates. Crossing Kyrgyz border. Night is in a home stay.
Day 12: Sary Tash - Osh, 185 km, 90% asphalt, 10% dirt road.
Today we will drive from Sary Tash village to Osh city. The road will go along amazing mountains and high passes. On the way you will drive over a high mountain pass - Taldik. It is 3 615 meters high! You will never forget the amazing views of the road and mountains around it. With 93% of mountains in Kyrgyzstan, nomadic life in remote places - our country is a real paradise for people that are in love with mountains and unusual cultures. In Osh city you will go for a walk there and visit the most famous place - Suleiman Mountain. Suleiman Too (Solomon's Mountain) is situated in the center of the city and it is considered to be a pilgrimage place for local Muslims. Night is in a hotel.
Day 13: Osh - Kazarman, 270 km, 30% asphalt, 70% dirt road.
Today we will drive to Kazarman village. 93% of Kyrgyzstan is mountainous with nomadic life in remote places - our country is a real paradise for people that are in love with mountains and unusual cultures. The route takes you along roads that wind along incredible gorges. During your drive be prepared for amazing views of the impressive mountains and gorges. Today we will see some nomads that still live in this region. Night and dinner will be in a home stay. This is a very remote village.
Day 14: Kazarman - Son Kul, 180 km, 10% asphalt, 90% dirt road.
After breakfast we start our drive to the second largest lake in Kyrgyzstan - Son Kul Lake. This lake is surrounded by mountains and it is the highest alpine lake in Kyrgyzstan, situated at an altitude of 3013 meters above sea level. Kyrgyz nomads started to come to this wonderful area with their families for rest and relaxation. Herders of the Naryn region come to the lake to use it as a pastureland. After our arrival, you will be free to explore and enjoy the virgin nature of the lake and its surroundings. Dinner and overnight is in nomadic collapsible dwellings - yurts. They are made of a wooden skeleton, covered with felt coverings.
Day 15: Son Kul Lake, 145 km, 100% dirt road.
Today you drive around the whole Lake and meet real nomads. It is a great chance to get acquainted with nomadic traditions and culture. All nomads are very hospitable. They will always invite you inside their yurts to drink tea with them. They are not used to seeing many tourists and are always happy to speak with you. Hospitality is one of the main laws among nomads. The used to say: "Guest is sent by God". So they cannot just let you pass without having a rest with them. Also we will drive down along serpentine road to see amazing waterfall. A traditional dinner will be served in original nomadic houses - yurts. You will get to spend the night in yurts as nomads do.
Day 16: Son Kul - Tash Rabat, 255 km, 20% asphalt, 80% dirt road.
In the morning we will continue our self-drive 4X4 tour. You will drive to the Tash Rabat Caravanserai on the Great Silk Road (Stone Castle from the 14th century). The building is unique. Tash Rabat is located at the very heart of Tian Shan Mountains. Tash Rabat was built of stone blocks inside a mountain at an elevation of 3200 m above sea level. In total there are 31 rooms in the mountain. The walls are 1 m thick. There is also underground prison cells formerly used to incarcerate thieves in ancient times. On the way we will drive along the most beautiful Moldo Ashu pass. It is more than 3 000 meters high. On the way you will drive along the top of a mountain! There will be a traditional dinner and the night will be spent in yurts near Tash Rabat Caravanserai.
In the morning you can go for a walk or order we horse riding (20$ per person) till lunch time. It is a great chance to feel as a nomad and to see local people. After lunch we will drive along high mountains to Naryn town. It is situated right in the gorge. These passes on the way, combined with high mountains and nomadic way of life - make Kyrgyzstan an irresistible travel destination. Views of this mountain road are absolutely breathtaking. This day offers a great chance to experience the variety of mountains which make Kyrgyzstan so popular. On the way it will be possible to meet real nomadic families. Night will be in a guesthouse.
Day 18: Naryn - Tosor - Tamga, 365 km, 10% asphalt, 90% dirt road.
Today you will have the most exciting drive over the spectacular pass named Tosor - its high is 3 950 meters. The views during this day are going to change from one to another so fast! Be ready to take pictures of breathtaking views of the snow-topped mountains with the view to the lake. Picnic is at 1 p.m. In the evening you will arrive to Issyk Kul Lake. It is the second largest alpine lake in the world (1608m.above sea level). The lake is frequently called "the pearl of Central Asia" and is the main touristic highlight in our country. You can come up to the lake and to see mountains all around it. Your dinner will be in a guesthouse. Night is in a guesthouse.
Day 19: Tamga - Karakol, 120 km, 80 % asphalt, 20% dirt road.
Today we will drive to beautiful Jeti Oguz gorge. Jeti Oguz is famous for its red rocks formations that have a name Seven Bulls - Jeti Oguz. Also you will see there the Broken Heart Mountain. Then we continue our way to Karakol town. You will visit the Dungan mosque. One of its highlights is the fact that it was built in Chinese style without using a single metal nail. This will be followed by the visit of an old wooden Orthodox Church. Dinner will be in the guesthouse. Night is in the guesthouse.
Day 20: Karakol - Cholpon Ata, 190 km, 70 % asphalt, 30% dirt road.
Today will drive to Issyk Kul Lake. This time we will drive along the northern shore of Issyk Kul Lake. This is a great chance to see the whole lake from all sides. We will drive along Semenovskoye and Grigorievskoye gorges. These two picturesque gorges are connected at the end. It means you will start driving in at one gorge and will drive out through the other one! While journeying from one gorge to another you will see yurts and we will stop many times to have a rest and to enjoy Mother Nature. Lunch will be a picnic. Dinner and night is in a hotel.
Day 21: Issyk Kul Lake - Bishkek, 270 km, 100% asphalt
In the morning you will be transferred to Bishkek city. On the way, we will make a short break to give you the opportunity to visit ancient stone inscriptions (dating back to 800 B.C.). Today we will visit Burana Tower. It is a minaret from the 11th century. Burana Tower was used during the Great Silk Road as a sign for travelers that there was a city to have a rest. Nearby you will see an open air museum of Balbans (stone warriors). After arriving in Bishkek you will have a guided city tour and visit Asian bazar. Dinner is in a national restaurant. Night is in a hotel.
Day 22: Flight
In the morning our manager will make airport transfer for you.
