It is better to bring 50-100 $ / Euro banknotes than the smaller ones. Currency exchange offices may change small bills by a lower rate.
There is no problem with changing money in Bishkek: there are a lot of banks and private exchange offices. The rate in bank and exchange office is the same. Banks work till 5 pm, exchange offices work 24 hours, but at night the rate is lower. It is not recommended to change money at the airport or bazaar during your tour in Kyrgyzstan, the rate will be less interesting.
If you change money at the bank, you might need to provide your passport.
At exchange offices you do not have to provide your documents.
In small towns and villages you will have a possibility to change your money but sometimes you can miss bank opening hours. That is why it is strictly recommended to change money in the capital city on tour
Credit cards are accepted only in big cities, usually Visa and Master card.
