Kyrgyzstan shares border with Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and China.
As for Kyrgyz-Kazakh border and customs checkpoints, Ak Jol-Kordai is the most used one. When you cross the border into Kyrgyzstan, the only thing you need is your passport. If you travel from Kyrgyzstan to Kazakhstan, you also fill up a migration card (passport number, first name, last name, purpose of visit, signature) that you should keep until you leave the country.
There is also Ak Tilek-Karasu checkpoint in Chu region. If you want to cross the border directly from Taraz to Kyrgyzstan, Talas, you can use Chon Kapka-Zhibek Zholy.
In Issyk Kul region there is Karkyra-Kegen border checkpoint but it is open only from May 1 to October 31. Also note that you need a special permit to cross Karkyra valley on the way to Karkyra-Kegen because it is borderland.
It is the same about Dustlik Kyrgyz-Uzbek border checkpoint.
Crossing Tajik border and customs you don't need to fill anything. There are 2 of them that are used the most: Bordobo-Kyzyl Art toward Murgab and Kyzyl Bel-Guliston toward Khujand.
Kyrgyz-Chinese border checkpoints are Torugart in the north and Irkeshtam in the south of our Republic. Note that Chinese border is closed on weekend and holidays.
As everywhere in the world, it is not allowed to take photos and videos at the border checkpoint. But in general it is quite easy and not complicated, border guards are friendly and try to be helpful.
