One of the most popular itineraries of our tours in Kyrgyzstan is a travel around Issyk Kul Lake via the northern route from Bishkek to Cholpon-Ata and onwards to Karakol. From Karakol the rout goes to Jeti Ogus with continuing along the southern shore back to Bishkek city. Places worth visiting during this tour are: Petroglyphs Nature Reserve, Rukh Ordo cultural complex, Semyonovskoye and Grigorievskoye gorges (north shore), Barskoon gorge, Fairy Tale Canyon, Bokonbaevo and Kyzyl Tuu villages famous by eagle hunter family and yurt craftmanship (southern shore).
The second distinguished highlight of travel in Kyrgyzstan is the second largest lake in Kyrgyzstan - Son Kul Lake - located at an altitude of 3 016 meters above sea level. However this area can be visited only from June till September, as access there is very difficult most of the year. There are four routes that approach Son Kul Lake via Moldo Ashu, Kara Keche, Kalmak Ashu and 33 Parrot Passes located more than 3 000 km above see level.
To be closer to local life of the nomads it is worth visiting such remote villages as Kyzyl Oi or Kazarman, which are inhabited by local shepherds in the summer, and where you can try national Kyrgyz drink kymyz (fermented mare's milk) and kurut (dried salty cheese).
If you have more days to travel or your tour will continue to countries bordered with Kyrgyzstan (such as: Uzbekistan to the west and southwest, Tajikistan to the southwest and China to the east) you can go to the southern part of the country and visit the oldest city in Kyrgyzstan - Osh city - with over 3 000 years of history. One of the most popular highlights of Osh city is Sulaiman Too Sacret Mountain that has been a Muslim place of pilgrimage for centuries.
