Mountains
There are many steppes and hollows, valleys and gorges mountain chains which make the landscape difficult and diverse. In the Kyrgyz land is possible to see the four seasons at the same time and feel the different landscapes in a small area. As the most of country is dominated by mountains over 94 % of the country lies 1000 m. above the see level and 71 % above 2000 meters. One of the largest mountain chains of Central Asia is the Tien Shan Range. The Tien Shan Range locates in five countries like Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, China, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
They are usually described as being divided into and most of them exhibit typical alpine features. They are made of sedimentary, metamorphic and igneous rocks. The largest mountain chain - Tien Shan Range is divided into Northern, Western, Eastern, Central and Inner ranges, and the most have alpine peculiar propterties. For instance, the area where is located one of the famous Enilchek Glacie, has two Pobeda and Khan Tengri peaks over 7000 meters, 23 peaks over 6000 meters and 80 peaks between 5000-6000 meters above sea level.
History
From the ancient times the Tian Shan has been known and called as the. As travellers took some notes about the Celestial Mountains the region around people preserved the legends rather than the facts, and therefore the were only legends until the exploration of the Russian geographer and explorer Pyotr Semyonov in the 19th century.
