Traditions

Traditional culture and customs in Kyrgyzstan is one of most important phenomena that can be seen in everyday life. Nomadic way of life is closely connected to folk that are associated with Turkic and Mongolian peoples. All the holidays, folk crafts, poems and music, national cuisine are connected to nomad life; you have an opportunity to be in the heart of every activity in the course of a tour.

Even nowadays, when Kyrgyzstan is a modern country, folk traditions are loved, respected and honored and are going from generation to generation. The well-known traditional custom is hospitality, when since ancient times nobody left without visiting Kyrgyz House. Due to the nomadic way of life, the peculiar kinds of bread are "komoch-nan"(round bread), "tandyr-nan" which is baked in tandyr - a kind of clay oven. Pieces of fried bread, known as "boorsok" are permanent on the Kyrgyz table. A national drink is made from mare's milk is Kumys.

In accordance with traditions each bride must have a wedding gift of different blankets and pillows, carpets, for which Kyrgyz women have always been known as masterful workmanship. Older women were passing their skills of wool processing, embroidery for clothes and carpets to younger ones.
