The peak Pobeda of 7, 439 meters, is located near lake Issyk Kul, right at the border with China, used to be the highest mountain peak in the former Soviet Union. The peak borders the Zvezdochka Ice and is about 3 km of vertical headwall and it is possible to make a tour and try to climb the peak. The name from Chinese is Tomur Peak, the original namу is Khan Tengri, as P. Semyenov first documented the peak during his trips. He was confused by the shape of pyramid and thought it was the Khan Tengri. The Peak Pobeda is not of the pyramid shape. In honor of the Second World War it was renamed in 1946. The Soviet team climbed it in 1938. Two teams from Kazakhstan, from the Chon tern Pass, the other, from Uzbekistan, along the Zvezdochka Ice tried to climb it in 1938. The Kazakh team saw the difficulties of worsening weather circumstances, having reached 6000 m of it. 12 members of the team survived. From that moment the peak has fearsome reputation in Kyrgyzstan.
